Devotion

Back in Bible times the early church really understood devotion and the great things that come out of it. Let's look at Acts 2 together.

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
Acts 2:42

And what happend when they devoted themselves?
"Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.... And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
Acts 2:43,47b

Now does that mean we are also required to live as they chose to then?
"All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need." vs44,45

That was the choice they made and it was fruitful.
"And the Lord added to their number daily..."

I have family in Hutterite colonies and I love them dearly. They take this scripture literally and live in colonies and have all in common. Whether you are a Hutterite or not we need to be devoted to Christ and what the Bible teaches.

Mark 16:17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

This is pretty bold and takes hardcore devotion.

God is a gentleman and will "make" you do anything. There is just something about living life to the fullest. No regrets.

What is God asking of you today? What do you need to devote to?

Food for thought.
